2021 was expected to be an unpredictable year, and it lived up to that expectation. The silver lining was the development and deployment of vaccines across the world. But as Omicron reminds us, the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is not over.
In 2021, we will see consequential elections in both countries– Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Punjab state elections in India and the midterm elections in the U.S., which will focus the attention domestically in both countries.
Therefore, our job as champions of this bilateral partnership is straightforward – provide robust engagements and deeper understanding between the two countries across all aspects of the U.S.-India partnership. Here are some of our key initiatives for 2022.
Strengthen defense technology cooperation between the U.S. and India
Strengthen the health system through public-private partnerships and encourage immunization for a resilient public health system
Encourage investment and infrastructure development in clean energy
Promote good regulatory practices and solutions for technical barriers to trade
