Senior Associate/Associate Director*, Food, Agriculture and Retail Policy (*Title would be commensurate with educational qualifications)
General Description of Duties 
As a Senior Associate/Associate Director for Food, Agriculture and Retail policy, this position will involve supporting the member companies of USISPF within this sector support. This position will also involve working closely with the Managing Director – India on special projects. The role is focused on regulatory policies in India and the candidate will develop need to demonstrate expertise and remain current on policy developments in India, identify key issues impacting the ease of doing business, labour and standards, for U.S. companies in India (and vice versa), prepare background briefs, engage key stakeholders, plan relevant programing, and assist in the planning of policy discussions and initiatives. This position reports to the Managing Director – India at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum and is based out of USISPF’s office in New Delhi, India.
Detailed Description of Duties
  • Analyze the existing regulatory environment, craft and effectively deliver a coordinateda dvocacy strategy that helps mitigate risks thereby playing a pivotal role in catalyzing sustainable growth for the business. Real-time tracking of new developments within the sector by reading trade & business press, GOI websites, and other sources.
  • Work with external stakeholders and experts to determine potential opportunities and regulatory issues arising from such changes that may affect our members, their operating models, products, and clients. In addition, engage with Centre, state, and public/private stakeholder groups.
  • Prepare submissions on industry issues along with individual company issues.
  • Facilitate high-level meetings between USISPF members and key stakeholders, including senior government officials, regulators, and alliance partners to promote and advocate on the issues at hand.
  • Manage programs and events concerning the sector. This includes creating budgets and securing sponsorship/registration funds.
  • Contribute to public policy for issues and advocacy activity within USISPF, which includes, coordinating and drafting responses to public consultation papers, position papers, and speaking notes for company representation in conferences, panels, roundtables, etc.
  • Participating in industry associations and other industry groups work on regulatory change including contributing to industry association responses to consultation papers.
  • Ensure effective value offering to members within the membership. This includes soliciting their policy views, joining them in government meetings, and polling members on key issues.
  • Work with the Managing Director – India on any cross-sectoral issues, programming, and advocacy.
Experience :
  • 3 – 5 years of prior experience related to food, agriculture, or retail sector/research/public policy focused work on regulatory issues. Prior consulting/advocacy work in the sector is a plus.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in International Relations/ Political Science/ Economics is required, preferably in a relevant discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred.
