RBI issues notification on Margin for Derivative Contracts

The Reserve Bank of India has issued new regulations regarding margin requirements for derivative contracts, replacing previous instructions outlined in Circular No. 10 dated February 15, 2021. They apply to Authorized Dealers, specifically Category-I banks and Category-III Standalone Primary Dealers. As stated these Directions aim to streamline the process of posting and collecting margin for permitted derivative contracts between residents and non-residents. They are issued under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999, and do not affect any other permissions or approvals required by law. These regulations, come into effect immediately
