The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced an update to its e-mandate framework, which initially required issuers to send a pre-debit notification to customers at least 24 hours before any charge or debit to their account. Now, the auto-replenishment of FASTag and the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) when the balance drops below a customer-defined threshold will also be included under this framework. However, due to the nature of these transactions being recurring but without fixed periodicity, they will be exempt from the pre-debit notification requirement. All other instructions under the e-mandate framework will remain in force, and this update is effective immediately under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007.
