SEBI has introduced a special call auction mechanism to improve price discovery for listed ICs and IHCs trading below their book value. This mechanism aims to address liquidity issues and ensure fair pricing. Eligible ICs and IHCs must be listed for at least a year, with significant investments in other listed companies. The auction, conducted without price bands, requires orders from at least five unique buyers and sellers to be successful. If unsuccessful on the first day, the auction continues until a price is discovered. This process will be held annually, starting in October 2024, with stock exchanges coordinating and publicizing details.
