USISPF co-hosted the US-India Energy Roundtable on the sidelines of Gastech Event 2024. Minister Puri emphasized the importance of the energy partnership between Washington and New Delhi and the growing synergy between the two in creating a clean energy economy. Minister Puri spoke about the growth in the bilateral hydrocarbon trade, which reached a figure of $13.6 bn in 2023-24, as the U.S. is India’s 6th largest energy trade partner with a hydrocarbon trade of $2.43 bn (in 2 months of FY 2024-25 itself). The discussion underscored the importance of stable energy policies, particularly regarding gas inclusion in GST and biofuel targets, and emphasized the potential for green hydrogen and ammonia projects. Ahead of #ClimateWeekNYC2024, the burgeoning momentum of the deep energy partnership, especially through initiatives like the Strategic Clean Energy Partnership (SCEP) underscores the commitment of both democracies to enhancing energy trade and strengthening energy security.
