Advanced cooperation in higher education has been one of the foundational pillars of US-India bilateral ties. To further strengthen the strategic alliance between the two countries, the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) is pleased to announce the launch of its US-India Higher Education Initiative.
The Government of India’s decision to reform India’s Higher Education system last year through National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 provides opportunities for India to become an important destination for the global knowledge economy, while harmonizing the Indian higher education system with international standards.
Indian students constitute a vast majority of the foreign students enrolled in the United States, bringing ideas and perspectives for research and innovation, and contributing directly to the American economy. We believe that generations of Indians and Americans will benefit from a stronger and multifaceted higher education collaboration for years to come.
To continue building on the progress in the US-India higher education corridor, our initiative will focus on the following areas:
- Engage with various stakeholders through dialogues and consultations on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
- Encourage comprehensive immigration reforms that allow robust student mobility.
- Deepening international collaborations and providing a platform for dialogues between higher education stakeholders of the two countries.
- Facilitate academic collaborations to strengthen curriculum design, research and innovation.
