Governor Lamont is leading a delegation to India, along with senior leaders, including Ms. Indra Nooyi, former Chairperson of PepsiCo and Advisor to the USISPF Board. Delighted to welcome Mr. Mike Hankey, the U.S. Consul General at U.S. Consulate Mumbai.

Governor Lamont addressed USISPF members and industry leaders, touching on the business-friendly policies and investment opportunities in the state and how Indian companies would benefit from investing in Connecticut.

The Constitution State is known for its strength in financial services, with Hartford, CT earning the sobriquet of being the insurance capital of the world, manufacturing, agriculture, aerospace and, of course, known for its strength in IT services – as the number of Indian tech giants and member companies have thriving operations in the state. Successful discussion on strengthening U.S.-India commercial ties at the state and local level.

The interaction featured a virtual presentation from Mr. Parshant Kumar Goyal, Joint Secretary of Insurance- Ministry of Finance. This session provided expert insights into the reforms proposed by the Government of India in its Union Budget 2025-26, including commitments to raise the FDI limit and simplify the guardrails and conditionalities associated with foreign investment in the sector.
