USISPF partnered with VIF India, the National Maritime Foundation- NMF, and the Free and Open Indo Pacific Forum to host the inaugural Indian Ocean Security Forum in New Delhi. Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Honorable Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Government of India, formally unveiled the USISPF report “State of Tourism in India 2026,” and presented the first copy to the Vice President. The report outlines a forward-looking roadmap for sustainable growth, digital transformation, investment expansion, and global positioning of India’s tourism sector. Minister Shekhawat emphasized tourism’s role as a powerful vehicle for cultural understanding and global connection, and underscored India’s unique civilisational depth and experiential richness.

USISPF in partnership with the U.S. Consulate General in Chennai, the United States Mission in India, and the U.S. Department of Commerce co-hosted the U.S.-India Space Business Forum. A first of kind dedicated space business forum brought together an esoteric gathering of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), diplomats from various U.S. missions in the country, policymakers across Government of India, space entrepreneurs, media, students and even India’s acclaimed astronauts Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla and Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair.
USISPF was delighted to host the Honorable Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, for a session in New Delhi for a briefing on the Union Budget 2026-27. Outlining the key tenets of the Union Budget 2026-27, the Finance Minister noted that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Budget reflects the commitment of Government for continuity, certainty and predictability from a policy point of view for businesses and industry to enable them to foster long-term plans and investment commitments.
USISPF led a delegation of Foreign Asset Reconstruction Companies to meet Shri Shirish Chandra Murmu, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India. The members appreciated RBI’s continued commitment to developing a resilient and efficient framework for managing distressed assets and enhancing the capacity of Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs). USISPF convened a post-Budget interaction with Chief Economic Advisor Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran to discuss key measures in the Union Budget 2026. The discussion highlighted the strategic resilience measures announced in the Union Budget 2026, forward looking fiscal framework and proposals to prioritise tax certainty and easing of compliances; signaling stability to taxpayers and investors alike. Industry representatives explored how these policy signals translate into real-world investment and innovation.
USISPF convened a closed-door roundtable in New Delhi with Hon. Michael “Mike” Dodd, Assistant Secretary of War for Critical Technologies and Acting Deputy Director of the Defense Innovation Unit, focused on strengthening the U.S.–India innovation ecosystem under the TRUST framework. Discussions examined collaboration across critical and emerging technologies, including space, semiconductors, autonomous systems, quantum technologies, and artificial intelligence, with an emphasis on startup-led innovation and partnerships.

USISPF’s Board of Directors visited New Delhi from November 12-13 for a series of high-level discussions with Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, the Chief Minister of Telangana, former bureaucrats, and Ministers from Andhra Pradesh.
The conversations touched on why the Indian economy continues to remain robust at a time of global economic headwinds. Cabinet Ministers, Chief Minister of Telangana, MPs and Former Bureaucrats spoke about increased collaboration to strengthen the commercial partnership and staying on course to strengthen the commercial partnership at a time of certain challenges.
The overarching message was all relationships face hurdles, but the joint-willingness to work towards a solution remains strong.

The discussion examined AI’s transformative role across defence domains, while identifying key challenges related to infrastructure constraints, data gaps, and the need for trusted AI systems supported by robust safety benchmarks.
Speakers highlighted applications spanning maritime domain awareness, autonomous systems, predictive maintenance, and cyber defence. The dialogue also addressed the balance between human oversight and AI autonomy, ethical considerations surrounding lethal autonomous systems, data sovereignty, and supply-chain resilience.
Participants emphasized the importance of civil-military collaboration, rigorous testing and validation frameworks, and responsible AI adoption to strengthen defence preparedness in an evolving strategic environment.

The discussion underscored India’s rapidly increasing power demands driven by data center growth, need for coordinated policy, regulatory, and infrastructure interventions to enable sustainable and resilient expansion, emphasizing close collaboration between government and industry stakeholders.
USISPF met the SEBI Chairperson along with senior leaders from the world’s largest PE/VC funds, part of Strategic Working Group on Private Equity & Venture Capital, to discuss ways to deepen long-term capital flows into India. Members appreciated SEBI’s clarity, responsiveness & market-strengthening reforms. Members reaffirmed support for transparency while seeking a balanced, workable framework. The discussion also revolved around India’s investment landscape and how easing investment pathways can help attract more capital and strengthen the overall ecosystem. A constructive, forward-looking conversation on enabling greater investment flows into India’s growth story. The meeting ended with a shared commitment to continued collaboration to further strengthen India’s capital markets and unlock greater long-term investment.

USISPF was honored to host Ambassador R. Nicholas Burns in our office in New Delhi. Ambassador Burns spoke to a distinguished cohort of USISPF Advisors to the Board, former diplomats, government officials, and business leaders from USISPF membership in his recent avatar as Vice Chairman of The Cohen Group. Ambassador Burns most recently served as the U.S. Ambassador to China from 2021-2025 under the Biden administration.
A veteran diplomat of over three decades, Ambassador Burns is a key architect in the U.S.-India relationship, having worked on the U.S.–India Civil Nuclear Agreement when he was the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs from 2005 to 2008, the State Department’s third-ranking official, where he was the lead U.S. negotiator.
Ambassador Burns shared insights from his recent visit to India, the strength of the U.S.-India strategic partnership, and his vision for the relationship going forward, and said, “the U.S. must revive the vital relationship with India”.

The Israel Economic Forum was planning a high-level delegation visit to India in Q1 2027.

USISPF hosted a closed-door roundtable discussion on the Future of U.S.-India Nuclear Cooperation with the civil nuclear delegation from the U.S. Department of Energy.
The delegation was led by Aleshia Duncan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Cooperation, Office of Nuclear Energy at U.S. Department of Energy
Both countries remain committed to the U.S.-India Energy Security Partnership, especially in areas of civil nuclear energy.
This roundtable explored potential areas of collaboration and avenues to strengthen and secure supply chains for civil nuclear energy, including cooperation on developing small modular reactors (SMRs)/advanced reactor technology – a key focus area as outlined in the joint-statement.
Our first panel discussion, ‘Immunization for a Healthy Workforce and Healthy Families’, witnessed an engaging conversation on the importance of including vaccination as one of employers’ prime offerings for the well-being of employees and their families.
Other aspects touched on missing data on the Indian population and various enablers and barriers to implementation.

USISPF’s India Managing Director Nivedita Mehra participated in a panel discussion titled “Navigating the U.S. Market: Opportunities, Challenges, & Future Prospects for Indian Tech” at nasscom’s Global Confluence 2025.
The theme of the conference was “Forging Global Alliances for Tech Leadership”.
Nivedita touched on U.S.-India TRUST and the Indus Innovation Frameworks and the opportunities for Indian companies and how Indian MSMEs can leverage these initiatives.
Other speakers at the conference included Minister Piyush Goyal, the Hon. Minister of Commerce and Industry, Rajesh Agrawal IAS, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Government of India, and Rajesh Nambiar, President, nasscom.

The session brought together senior government officials and industry leaders to exchange insights on the implementation of the Draft DPDP Rules, 2025, and broader regulatory developments impacting cross-border data flows, digital innovation, and economic cooperation.
The discussion focused on key themes such as data governance, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and the role of U.S.-India collaboration in shaping a resilient digital ecosystem. It provided a platform for candid exchanges under Chatham House rules, ensuring meaningful industry participation in shaping a balanced and forward-looking regulatory framework.
The session was chaired by S Krishnan, Secretary – Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India and was attended by Ms. Amy Schedlbauer, Minister-Counselor for Economic Affairs, U.S. Embassy India, and members from industry.

USISPF participated in the 2nd International Patient Summit (IPS II 2025) jointly organised by DakshamA Health and the PAIR Academy. Dr Bhuvnesh Shrivastava, Director – Healthcare, shared his insights during the panel discussion on ‘Climate Change and Communicable Diseases: A Multi-Stakeholder Perspective’ and outlined the importance of life-course immunization, and it’s critical role in preventing new and emerging infections.
USISPF was delighted to host a closed-door discussion with Shri Nagaraj Naidu, Additional Secretary (Americas – USA & Canada), Additional Secretary (Americas- USA & Canada), Ministry of External Affairs, at our New Delhi office.
The session provided a readout on Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the U.S. and his meeting with President Donald J. Trump. Shri Naidu also briefed participants on U.S.- India relations and the way forward, outlining key priorities for strengthening bilateral ties.
