The U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) kicked-off its IX Annual Leadership Summit by hosting United States Trade Representative Ambassador Greer for a closed-door roundtable with USISPF Board Members. This year’s Summit carries special significance, coming as the United States commemorates the 250th anniversary of its independence.
The roundtable came at a pivotal moment, just one week after Ambassador Greer’s visit to India for negotiations with the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal – a key step toward a balanced, mutually beneficial India–U.S. Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) and an interim deal in line with the Joint Statement of February 6, 2026. USISPF Board Members engaged directly with Ambassador Greer on the path ahead, including enhanced market access, digital trade, supply chain resilience, and the reduction of non-tariff barriers.
USISPF commends Ambassador Greer, Minister Piyush Goyal’s and their respective teams for their leadership and welcomes the substantial progress made by negotiating teams in recent months. Businesses on both sides are confident that this agreement offers the pathway to achieving “Mission 500” – the $500 billion bilateral trade target set by Prime Minister Modi and President Trump. Our Board Members remain firmly committed to supporting him as negotiations advance toward an agreement that is balanced, commercially meaningful, and delivers tangible benefits for businesses in both countries. This is a historic moment in the India–U.S. strategic and commercial partnership.
“Hosting Ambassador Greer at our IX Annual Leadership Summit, just days after his productive engagements in New Delhi, underscores the extraordinary positive momentum in the U.S–India trade dialogue. As we mark 250 years of American independence, we are witnessing a historic moment in this relationship. USISPF commends Ambassador Greer and his team as they work toward a balanced, mutually beneficial trade agreement.”
