Key discussions on the reduction of Corporate Tax from 40% to 35% to boost FDI, improving the ease of doing business environment, investing in India’s infrastructure, strengthening supply chains, and building a clean energy economy. USISPF India MD Nivedita Mehra joined a panel discussion on ‘Bridging the Gap: Women powering Tech Policy’ in New Delhi, part of Microsoft‘s ‘Conversations Unscripted’ Asia edition, in partnership with The Quantum Hub & YLAC. The panel explored women’s experiences in public policy and identified areas for further research on the gendered impacts of tech policy. 

The panel featured Preeti Banzal Adviser/Scientist ‘G’, Office of the PSA to GOI, Dr. Sarayu Natarajan, Co-founder, Aapti Institute and Arjun Venkatraman, Program Officer- Digital, Gates Foundation. Also part of the discussion was Mr. S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & IT, who emphasized the necessity of applying a gender lens to developments in the digital economy and technology policy.

International symposium series across New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad

USISPF in partnership with the Export Control and Border Security Program (EXBS) under the Bureau of International Security and Non-proliferation (State ISN Bureau) at the Department of State organized an international symposium series across New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. The series touched on the scope of U.S. regulations on critical technologies, with a special emphasis on the semiconductor and space sectors.

The symposium was a platform to share crucial industry information, ensure the security of supply chains, discuss the role of export controls and intellectual property in space and semiconductor technology security, and emphasize the importance of compliance. A special focus on India’s emerging space and semiconductor sectors, including academic institutions, research institutions, MSMEs, startups, and relevant government agencies.

Since then, Washington and New Delhi have signed foundational defense-related agreements and conducted a large number of joint military exercises in the Indo-Pacific.iCET and INDUS-X will be pivotal in consolidating the relationship in an era of AI, quantum, cyber, space, and drone technology. The focus for both countries remains on securing a free and open Indo-Pacific and building on the defense and security partnership.
